                                        Welcome to

Central High School Alumni Association Providence

In addition to the financial generosity of our members, a lot of work and effort has gone into developing this scholarship program by some very dedicated and loyal volunteer members.  This committee not only worked to develop this program but continue to maintain and administer the process right up to presenting the awards.  We are thankful and appreciative for all of their efforts:

Important note for the 2018/2019 Annual Appeal:

The revised bylaws approved January 2018 provides for "Named Scholarships" within the Scholarship Program.  This means that donors of $2500. or more for at least a 2 year period will be allowed to designate honorees to be named on certain awarded CHSAAP Scholarships. The association and Central High School appreciates such generosity. The 2018 Scholarship Committee:

Thanks to the generosity of several donors to the 2017/2018 Scholarship Fund Appeal we were able to present scholarship awards to eight deserving Central High School seniors heading to higher learning.

Sixteen  students completed the required application and submitted letters of reference and a written essay.  Our selection committee headed up by Dr. Jose Gonzalez and including Ron Tella, Debbie Cockfield, and Ana Barraza reviewed the submittals and ranked them.  They then made their recommendations to the Board.  The Board approved the top eight for receiving one thousand dollar awards each.  These were presented at the Annual Gala  held on May 5, at the Imperial Room, 1 Rhodes Place, Cranston RI.  Sincere regrets were sent to those we could not select.
